Lupinus polyphyllus
.Intensively coloured, impressive perennial with up to 50 cm long, upright flower corollas in white, blue and purple.
The variegated lupins make great cut flowers and are also a valuable addition to cottage gardens or perennial beds due to their long flowering period. The plants form a taproot, are very popular with insects, have a medium-strong fragrance and flower up to 1 m high. They thrive best in a full sun position with well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. The plants are considered poisonous and can be encouraged to flower again by cutting off faded stems.
