Garden form of the Mediterranean field weed with attractive red flowers with a black base.
The summer Adonis rose probably came to Central Europe with the cultivation of cereals (Neolithic period) and has recently been strongly pushed back by the intensification of agriculture. It is now on the list of endangered species. The plants provide food and habitat for insects and like it warm and sunny.
