Nigella sativa
Common spice in the Orient with a nutty flavour and beautiful blue flowers.
Black cumin is used, for example, in India to flavour lentil dishes (dahl) or to sprinkle on flat bread in Turkey (breadroot). The seeds have a taste reminiscent of sesame and a slight pungency reminiscent of pepper. The annual plants reach a height of 40-05 cm and the decorative blue flowers develop seed pods similar to those of the poppy. It likes to sow itself. In the Oriental region, the plants have been valued as a medicinal and spice plant for over 2000 years. Light germinator.
