Trigonella foenum-graecum
The seeds are used as a spice for bread, cheese and curries
Unlike the closely related blue fenugreek, only the seeds are used. The yellowish grains are an important ingredient in curry powder and give dishes a hearty basic flavour. The leaves are also used in Balkan folk medicine. The dried leaves are also very aromatic and can be used for seasoning. The plant originates from Asia, but can also be grown in Central Europe as an annual in the garden.
