Phaseolus vulgaris var. vulgaris
.Promising, tasty varietal find with fine, red-white seeds and tender, green pods.
.This great regional variety was found as part of the "Variety Detective Campaign" of Genbänkle e.V.. The 2-3 m high plants are rather late maturing, have light green foliage and white flowers. This historical rarity has been preserved by a family in Neidlingen for over 150 years due to its tasty kernels and pods. The variety resembles the variety Klosterfrauen, which is known to have been traded in Switzerland between 1912 and 1957 and was first described by Gustave Heuzé in " Les Plantes Légumières Cultivées en Plein Champ" in 1898.
